It Can be Challenging to Navigate Adult Life

Being a young adult is an exciting but challenging time. You’re on the brink of a new chapter, filled with opportunities and also uncertainties. Maybe you’re headed to college, or starting to work, or maybe you don’t really have a plan yet. You may be struggling to negotiate new boundaries with your parents and wishing they accepted who you are instead of who they wish you were. Everyone is asking you: Are you excited about graduation? Who are you dating? When are you getting married? How are your job applications going? You hear: What are doing with your life? Why haven’t you figured this out yet?

On top of that, you might be struggling with loneliness or creating lasting connections. How do you make real friends when everyone’s on their own path? How do you create a satisfying social life when you can no longer rely on seeing your friends at school every day? You may feel invisible, like no one notices you. You may feel too afraid to put yourself out there and trust people with your inner thoughts and feelings.

You’re Not Alone on This Journey

Being the mom of two young adults has given me deep empathy and insight into the struggles that young adults face. I know how anxiety-provoking and transformative these years are, and how difficult it has been for young adults who have come of age during a time when schools were closed and you lost out on important milestone experiences that would have helped bring closure to relationships with peers, mentors, and experiences.

In our sessions, you’ll find a warm, supportive space where your feelings and challenges are acknowledged and understood. Whether you’re dealing with job or academic pressure, finding the right significant other, family stress, boundary issues, social anxiety, loneliness, or the process of self-discovery, therapy gives you space to explore and understand the issues you’re facing. As a therapist, I can help you build self-understanding and coping skills to make them easier to navigate. Schedule a consultation with me and I can help you map out a path to feeling more confident and secure.
