Therapy For Moms

I want to be me, not just Mom

Being a parent can be exhausting. No matter what stage your child is in, sometimes it’s all too much. Maybe the idea of waking up in the middle of the night to care for a crying baby one more time makes you want to cry. Maybe your toddler runs circles around you and never lets you have five minutes to yourself. Maybe making school lunches, doing laundry, and helping with homework has become a joyless, thankless grind. You never get a break from running between activities, your job, or keeping track of your family’s needs and commitments. You may struggle with guilt that you’re not doing enough, even though you feel completely drained by the time you go to bed each night.

As a mom of three, I know the feeling. It’s hard to take time for yourself as a parent. You may feel like you have to choose among your basic needs to get everything done. You might stay up late into the night to have time to unwind and watch TV or scroll your phone, and then regret it in the morning. You might struggle to prioritize exercise or eating healthy amidst all the demands on your time. Finding ways to connect with your partner or your friends away from your child can feel impossible. All these problems can be made worse by a partner, family, or boss who aren’t as supportive as you wish they were. What you want more than anything is to have some space to be you, and not just someone else’s mom or dad.

Improve Your Relationships with Your Kids and Spouse
