Help for couples and individuals who want to heal painful patterns and build relationships that feel safer, healthier, and more connected
The Experiences That Shape Us Don't Have to Define Us
Perhaps you've spent years trying to be the dependable one. You show up for work, care for your family, and do everything you can to keep life moving forward, yet inside you feel anxious, disconnected, exhausted, or stuck in the same painful patterns. Maybe you find yourself repeating unhealthy relationship dynamics, struggling to set boundaries without guilt, carrying the effects of childhood trauma, or wondering why certain relationships leave you feeling emotionally unsafe. These patterns are often connected to the experiences and relationships that shaped you.
I help individuals and couples heal from painful experiences, understand the patterns that keep them feeling stuck, and create lives and relationships that feel safer, more connected, and more authentic. My work supports people navigating complex trauma, betrayal, narcissistic abuse, affairs, family wounds, anxiety, grief, and major life transitions.
About This Practice
Tiffany Savener, PhD, LPC-Associate (#93330), founded Seek the Sun Psychotherapy because she believes people can come back from the kinds of pain that feel permanent. The work here is serious, evidence-based, and built around the conviction that what feels insurmountable rarely is.
She practices under the clinical supervision of Mark Cagle Jr., LPC-S (#71799), in accordance with Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors requirements. Her clinical training spans trauma, attachment, couples therapy, and relational work, including advanced training led by Dr. Janina Fisher, Drs. John and Julie Gottman, Dr. Sue Johnson, Dr. Ramani Durvasula, Terry Real, Dr. Lindsay Gibson, Dr. Kathleen Chard, and Dr. Tammy Nelson. Her clinical specializations include Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Affair Recovery and Trauma, Emotionally Focused Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Relational Life Therapy, and parts-informed approaches for complex trauma. Additional areas of specialized training include emotionally immature family systems, betrayal trauma, intimacy and relationship concerns, and narcissistic abuse recovery.
Seek the Sun Psychotherapy is sex-positive, LGBTQIA+-affirming, and welcoming of all relationship structures, backgrounds, and identities.

FAQ
-
You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people reach out because they feel stuck in painful patterns, overwhelmed by anxiety, struggling in relationships, recovering from betrayal, or trying to understand how past experiences continue to affect their lives. Therapy provides a space to better understand these patterns and begin creating meaningful change.
-
Trauma-informed therapy recognizes that many emotional and relationship struggles are shaped by past experiences. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" we explore what happened, how it affected the way you learned to cope, and how those patterns may still be influencing your life today. The goal is to help you feel safer, more connected, and more empowered moving forward.

I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating complex trauma, betrayal, affair recovery, emotionally immature family dynamics, narcissistic abuse, attachment wounds, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I also help couples navigate concerns related to pornography use, intimacy, and the growing impact of technology and AI on relationships. Together, we work to understand the experiences and patterns behind these struggles so you can build healthier relationships with yourself and the people who matter most.

My work is grounded in attachment science, trauma research, and evidence-based approaches that are tailored to your unique needs and goals. Depending on what you're working through, I may draw from Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Relational Life Therapy (RLT), EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and parts-informed approaches for complex trauma. My couples work is also informed by specialized training in sex therapy and intimacy through Tammy Nelson's CSTIP program, particularly when helping couples navigate betrayal, affairs, sexual intimacy concerns, and relationship repair.
Rather than relying on a single approach, I integrate these methods to help individuals, couples, and families understand the experiences that shaped them, heal painful patterns, and build healthier, more connected relationships.

-
Yes. I offer a brief consultation so we can discuss what brings you to therapy, answer your questions, and determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
-
You don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Whether you're navigating relationship challenges, trauma, family difficulties, anxiety, grief, or simply feel stuck, we can begin by understanding your story, identifying the patterns that may be contributing to your struggles, and deciding together where to begin.
-
No. A consultation is available if you would like an opportunity to ask questions, share what brings you to therapy, and determine whether working together feels like a good fit before scheduling your first session. Many people find this helpful, especially if they have had previous therapy experiences where they did not feel understood or supported.
However, a consultation is not required. If you are ready to begin therapy, you can email me directly at tsavener@seekthesun.net to schedule an appointment. We can start by learning more about your experiences, what you would like to work on, and how therapy can support your goals.
Let’s Talk
A brief consultation gives us the opportunity to talk about what is bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and determine whether working together is the right fit. If you don't see a time that works, email me at tsavener@seekthesun.net and we'll find one.
